| Typical stages of investigation (Each assessment is tailored to an individuals needs) |
1. Initial Examination
This is to check the health of your eyes and see whether glasses are required to correct short and long-sightedness or
astigmatism. We will also assess whether eye exercises or vision training may improve the way your eyes work together. |
2. Eye Exercises & Vision Training (if required)
Treatment of eye muscle co-ordination or visual perceptual skills can sometimes be beneficial to improve your visual efficiency. |
3. Visual Stress & Coloured Overlay Assessment
For many people, a coloured overlay (a transparent coloured overlay (a transparent coloured plastic sheet) significantly reduces
visual stress and improves reading speed. This works because the brain processes visual information in a different way when it
is coloured.
This part of the assessment involves measuring your visual stress and finding our which colour is most beneficial in reducing your
symptoms. You will then be given an overlay to take away and its benefits will be reviewed after six weeks.. |
4. Intuitive Colorimeter Assessment
If the coloured overlay has been helpful then it is likely that precision tinted glasses will be of even greater
benefit, as well as being more convenient for writing, board or computer work.
The Intuitive Colorimeter allows your optimum colour to be selected from over 100,000. This tint is then incorporated
into spectacles or contact lenses. The colour selected for glasses or contact lenses is normally different to overlay
colour. |
5. Ongoing Aftercare
An individual's preferred colour tends to change with time. To make sure that you are still getting the most benefit, we
recommend an annual eye examination with overlay assessment (for an overlay user) or Intuitive Colorimetry (for a precision
tinted contact lens or spectacle wearer). |
| If you choose contact lenses (as with any contact lenses) a six monthly contact lens aftercare appointment
is also needed. |
